Are you a news and sports junkie with a quirky sensibility?

b â€" Baltimore’s free daily publication and website for young adults â€" seeks a production-savvy editor to plan, edit, design and produce distinctive daily news and sports sections and help oversee print production.

The ideal candidate has experience in a daily news environment and is well-versed in Maryland news and sports, as well as national and international news and pop culture. This position requires strong news awareness and judgment; sharp editing skills; a knack for clever, accurate headlines; an offbeat sensibility; a production orientation; an eye for design and photo selection and a sense of humor. It requires experience with InDesign (or similar news design software). Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field required.

The position will involve selecting stories, editing content for publication, writing headlines, designing pages, toning photos, proofing, solving problems and communicating across departments in the production line. Our staff is small, dynamic and collaborative. A strong candidate will have additional skills, such as blogging and writing columns.

The production schedule is Sunday-Thursday; this is a swing shift that typically ends after 10:30 p.m., though deadlines can be held later for sports and other news demands. Position offers medical, dental and vision benefits; paid holiday, sick and vacation days; no relocation expenses. Send resume, cover letter and work samples to Anne Tallent at news@.... No phone calls, please.

b free daily and bthesite.com are part of the Baltimore Sun Media Group, an equal opportunity employer.
