Managing Editor, monthly humanitarian magazine, New York
Do you possess a worldly-inclusive view and an intellectual/academic understanding of international humanitarian issues? Do have several years experience overseeing the production of a magazine or similar publication? In this exciting role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the communications department, principally the production of a bi-monthly magazine and family of websites for a large international human services provider. To assist, you will manage a staff of 5 professionals including an editors, writers, graphic artists, and website developers.
The position requires a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years experience in an editorial/electronic media position at the management level. Candidates that have not served in or right below an editorial manager or similar role WILL NOT be considered. Due to the nature of the agency's mission, preference will be given to those candidates with a background in the Humanities and/or international studies. Your ability to understand the audience and be sympathetic to sociological and humanitarian causes will be critical to your success.
