      The Daily Republic, an award-winning newspaper in Fairfield, Calif., is seeking a top flight news editor to lead a four-person copy and design desk for our 18,500-circ., 7-day daily. The successful candidate will possess excellent editing and headline writing skills, knowledge of AP style, outstanding news judgment, have an eye for detail, work well under deadline pressure and produce compelling layouts. Must be proficient in Quark or InDesign. New media knowledge is desired.

      Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in journalism, English or related subject area, and at least four years of daily newspaper experience. Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English, handle all tools of the position, work effectively and pleasantly within the newsroom and with other departments, and be able to work evening and weekend shifts.

      Fairfield is located on Interstate 80 in Northern California, approximately 40 miles east of San Francisco and 40 miles west of Sacramento.
