- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia seeks a Copy Editor for its Whole Living Magazine. The Copy Editor will be charged with working with the editorial department to proofread, copyedit, and route stories This position presents a unique opportunity to work in a challenging and inspiring environment.
--Read all content for grammatical, spelling, and typographic errors with accuracy and speed. Edit for style, consistency, and continuity as well as logic and sense
--Shepherd and track individual stories through editorial proof process, ensuring that all changes are inputted correctly
--Work with editors and researchers and art and production departments to resolve any problems that arise
--Work with the Assistant Managing Editor to ensure timely closes
--Become familiar with MSL style guide, citing it and other reference books to support suggested changes
--An interest and passion for Health and nutrition is preferred
--Candidates should have 4 years of experience as a copy editor, preferably with a major publication.
--Must have strong written and oral communication skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
--A working knowledge of Adobe InDesign/InCopy is a plus.

- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is currently seeking a copy editor to join the Whole Living team. This position will be responsible for proofreading, copyediting, and helping to route all stories for Whole Living and iPad, promotional material, advertorials, etc.
Read assigned articles in InCopy for grammar, spelling, sense, logic, and consistency with accuracy and speed, leaving notes in file for story editor and research editor. Use style guide, Merriam-Websterâs 11th Edition, Chicago Manual of Style, and other reference books to support suggested changes.
Shepherd individual stories through editorial closing process. Distribute proofs to editors as needed.
Input changes as marked by editors on page proofs. Check changes throughout process.
Read bluelines (confirming proofs).
Ensure consistency of style and terminology throughout each issue, and continuity among all issues. Discuss style concerns with managing editor/assistant managing editor.
Meet deadlines for reading proofs, circulating stories, and type-closing files as assigned by managing editor. Stay late to close stories as assigned by managing editor.
Work with story editor, art director, and design production to make sure all changes made to assigned stories meet WL style and are consistent within that story and issue.
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
