      American Chemical Society provides to its members and the worldwide scientific community a comprehensive collection of high quality information products and services for the
      practice and advancement of the chemical sciences.

      The Division publishes a weekly magazine, Chemical & Engineering News, its audited circulation in print is approximately 160,000 and its online edition receives more than 1.2
      million page views each month. Its staff of 48 includes editors, reporters, designers, and web content providers located at ACS headquarters in Washington, D.C., and in field offices
      in Boston; Edison, N.J.; Chicago; Houston; Berlin; and Hong Kong.

      Position Overview

      The Associate Editor is responsible for contributing to the editorial content of C&EN through the careful copyediting, including adherence to C&EN style and fact checking, of stories
      in the magazine and posted on C&EN Online. He or she is responsible for copyediting galleys and/or careful reading of page proofs for approximately one-half of the stories in an
      issue. He or she is also responsible for the production— through publication—of assigned pages of the magazine each week. He or she must meet daily deadlines. Occasional short
      writing assignments as requested.

      Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge

      College degree in English or journalism; 3-5+ years of related experience. Specific training, experience, or job knowledge requirements for an incumbent to successfully perform
      the job include strong grasp of grammar, ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and work under stress, ability to work as part
      of a team.
