      National Geographic Magazine is seeking a Senior Copy Editor to work collaboratively with all NGM divisions on a day-to-day basis, maintaining quality, applying outstanding knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and English usage, and ensuring that tight deadlines are met.

      The Senior Copy Editor will also fill in for the Copydesk Director when needed, acting as deputy to the Director and representing the Copydesk Division. Bachelors degree (English, journalism, communications, or a related field) with at least 7 years of relevant copyediting experience. Outstanding knowledge of language, grammar, and usage. Experience with print publishing platforms, especially K4 and InCopy/InDesign, desired.

      Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others across all divisions of the Magazine and the Society. Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain high-quality work amid competing deadlines, and to take initiative and solve problems. Broad knowledge of subjects covered in NGM. Appreciation of and understanding of what makes good and compelling writing.
