News Editor, Gannett Wisconsin regional copy desk
- The Oshkosh Northwestern is seeking an experienced News Editor to manage a Regional Copy Desk. The News Editor/Regional Copy Desk is responsible for supervising and overseeing copy editing staff that produces news pages, opinion pages, feature pages and Weekend sections for the Oshkosh Northwestern, Fond du Lac Reporter and Sheboygan Press at the Regional Copy Desk center. In addition to supervising the copy editors and paginators, the News Editor works closely with the Executive Editors of The Northwestern, The Reporter and The Sheboygan Press to ensure that all production deadlines are met for print products. The News Editor also works closely with the City Editor/Managing editors of the newspapers on the selection of appropriate news and information and design for each publication. In addition, the News Desk is responsible for establishing training and workflow procedures in the RCD
Qualified candidates should possess a command of Associated Press stylebook, proper grammar and usage, be up-to-date on current events that effect three publications, have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, QuarkXPress or Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, be able to meet tight deadlines, prioritize work demands and multi-task. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent field and 3 to 5 years of professional experience in management role.
