The Press of Atlantic City, a 50,000-circulation newspaper with a growing array of digital platforms, seeks a creative and flexible copy editor/page designer to join our desk. The ideal candidate must have strong news judgment, a collaborative approach, and as good an eye for design as he/she does for misspellings.

The right candidate will be able to quickly adapt to our fast-paced operation and be capable of producing a variety of pages, from local to nation to sports. Do you have a creative side? Show us you have the right skills and you could be designing special sections, features pages or 1A.

But design is just one aspect. Strong copy editing and headline writing skills are a necessity, along with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. This is a position where it all comes together, so you must be comfortable going from concept to completion under deadline pressure.

Speed, accuracy and judgment are crucial, as is knowledge of QuarkXPress and/or InDesign. A college degree is required. At least two years’ experience in daily journalism preferred.

The Press is a progressive news operation with a focus on communication and collaboration at all levels. Working with fellow desk members, photographers and senior editors would be a typical day on the job. Input and creativity is not just welcome, it’s required. In this ever-changing media landscape, a sense of adventure and humor also helps.

We are passionate about what we do here and are committed to serving readers and helping our journalists develop new skills. The Press is located in southern New Jersey, which offers seashore, casino, urban, suburban and rural areas. The Press is owned by BH Media and is located within a few hours’ drive of Philadelphia, New York and Washington.
