      The Star-Ledger is looking for an experienced full-time copy editor. The qualified individual must have a college degree or equivalent experience, be able to produce on deadline and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and a keen eye for detail.

      The job requires knowledge of journalistic skills as well as grammar, spelling and punctuation; familiarity with AP style; ability to edit copy; ability to communicate effectively with others; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Responsibilities include: editing materials for consistency and correctness in style, grammar, spelling, logic, and content under deadline pressure; ensuring copy is formatted properly and meets The Star-Ledger's standards. The copy editor is required to write headlines and captions that are accurate, fair, informative and active.

      Knowledge of InDesign and InCopy software are a big plus. The position will require working nights, weekends and some holidays. Previous daily newspaper experience a must.
