IDC's Publishing Services and Technologies group is seeking a Research Editor to copyedit and proofread information technology market research documents in a deadline-driven publishing environment. This position offers the editor with three to five years of experience the opportunity to work with a successful international publishing team, with a heavy emphasis on mentoring, guiding, and providing feedback to junior members of the editorial staff.
A BA degree in English or journalism is required along with at least three years of editing experience, ideally in an IT environment. Applicants must have experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A solid knowledge of grammar and usage is necessary, along with the ability to learn IDC's style and the complexities of IDC's research architecture. An ability to multitask is necessary, as well as a willingness to learn additional steps in the publication process, such as document formatting, proofreading, and electronic publishing. Experience with checking data in Excel tables and figures is a plus.
The editor must possess the ability to make editorial decisions quickly and correctly. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are necessary, as there is considerable interaction with IDC analysts, editors, and other members of the publishing team. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
