Picked up a useful one from Staples a few years ago, which has variable outputs. Intended for powering calculators and the like. It is one of the type where the transformer is in the plug and it has a slide switch on the casing to select the output voltage from 3v, 4.5v, 6v, 7.5v, 9v and 12v. It also has another slide switch to select polarity. Cost was around £3 and it is labeled as a "AC-DC Adaptor" made by Maxim Model # MX21-10, though I doubt that will help much.
