Thanks, Frank. I haven't seen one up close, but I believe that the Magic Train chassis is 16.5 gauge, and I'm a late convert to 0-14: are they re-gaugable? I've also seen a body for one of the 0-4-4-0Ts that uses again a 16.5 chassis, but I'm fairly certain it won't trim down to 14mm.

      Cheers,

      David

        David,

Not a problem. I understand that the expo in Chatellerault will also have trade stands with railway books and photographs. Is there anything that you might be interested in that I could get you? I shall be attending the Swanley event in October so could bring whatever over at that time if you are also planning to attend?

            Ian,

Trawling back through my browser history, I think I must have had a 'senior moment'. The nearest to what I described was in fact a 2-6-6-2 Mallet (so only 2 axles out on each set and a continent apart!). That was a Backwoods kit to fit a HO Mantua giving an On30 model. See http://www.backwoodsminiatures.com/0n3kits.htm. I would have picked that up on searching because I believe that some of the CDF Calvados locos were Mallets, but as it uses HO RTR I moved all too quickly on.

            Sorry for the misleading post.

Actually in a recent issue of Voie Libre magazine someone built a very creditable French Mallet using the Backwoods Miniatures body on the Mantua chassis.
