      HNY09 All,

Okay...no one is interested in 'off' hour testing since there is no
replies to my post and although I would like some night time
testing/QSO's or at least some to keep their PSK Reporters on 24x7 a
few days so if they don't want to test I could by looking at the PSK
Reporter monitors I might hit on the 30 Meter Band during the night
hours. But with no takers/replies it doesn't look like anyone is
interested and that is okay because I still think paths are open at
night time hours but just no one on the 30m band.

Yesterday on New Year's Eve before going out for the night I went
ahead and ran WSPR on the WSJT sofware and sure enough the WSPR
stations I was decoding with WSJT/WSPR indicated that around 1900z to
2000z paths were open from NA to OC/VK and EU. I put out some CQ's on
30m and although no VKs were about the 30m band I did get a response
from 2 stations from EU (UK and Italy). The morning band prop for me
here in NA-Central has become better now in the mornings (1300z to
1600z) to EU than the afternoon/sunset prop around 1900z to 2300z but
the prop was open indicating from the WSPR spots...again weak but
      there and interesting.

If you are really interested in seeing what 30m prop has to offer at
YOUR LOCATION or when the 'best' times are best for what contacts then
give WSJT WSPR a try or for sure those using Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD)
DM780 let the PSK Reporter run for a few days and see what is on our
      map or what is reported!

I could not resist on letting this WSPR stuff go so I thought I would
share with you a modest WSPR station and his results for a few hours
using WSPR and the paths on 30m band. I did NOT include 'normal'
daytime hours on this station but night time hours to show the paths
are there but no one seems to be on the 30m band I guess to take
advantage of these paths/openings/contacts for QSO modes. Take a look
      below at W3HH WSPR station/log.

      Thanks
      Don kb9umt 30MDG#0001

      ******************************************

W3HH will be on 30 meters full time from Florida
I have some extra equipment I wasnt using so I decided to make use of
it on WSPR. I noticed there isnt anyone else on full
time from Florida and I seem to be hearing as much as or more than
anyone else on 30 meters most of the time. Also there seems
to be a lot of people hearing me. I am not sure if this is because of
my location or because of the equipment I am using but
I dont think I am running anything special here. I am running a
Kenwood TS-440SAT backed down to 5 watts. It has a 1.8khz
filter in it. The antenna for 30 meters is a vertical dipole about 50
feet up in a pine tree. I am using an older Dell
laptop computer with this setup. I hope to be able to keep this stuff
running all the time. 73s, Doug W3HH.

        Barry,
I noticed that on the 30m Spot page and also from some data on PSK
Reporter. Playing with the VOAProp it sure predicts that path but at
that time no paths to NA but only Caribbean and SA at those times from
your side of the pond...but yes open. Thanks for the report
