- KD5NZL Charlie Brownell is capable of doing remote access (anywhere) computer maintenance, troubleshooting and software repairs, on any computer running XP and later Windows, that still runs and can still go online, saving you a service call charge and mileage, or packing it in to the local shop. So if you have glitches, and the system is slowing way down, he may be able to help. If asking a few questions will help, no charge. If he needs to hook up to your system, he will advise you on the software that you need to download and install. When you start the program, it gives you your IP address and a random password, generated for that session only, that lets him access your computer from here. Once disconnected, he can not get back in until you generate another random password. Your system will stay secure and you do not need the software running unless you need help.
As I said questions and advice are free. If he hooks up remotely the service rate is $30 an hour, charged in 15 minute intervals with one interval as minimum. At that rate, that is $7.50 minimum and per each additional 15 minute intervals.Again I stress, no service call charge, no mileage, no stranger in your house, or no packing it up ands taking it to a shop. And he does not charge for down time. For example, while downloading necessary maintenance and clean up software, anti-virus or firewall, what ever is needed. He can be doing something else, since he is not sitting in your house, at your computer, twiddling his thumbs while waiting. He charges only actual work time clocked in 15 minute intervals. You will not be charged an hour for 20 or 30 minutes of work. Rate example for actual hands on work time, 0-15 minutes=$7.50 15-30 minutes=$15 30-45 minutes=$22.50, and 45 minutes to an hour=$30 and so on.
Payments can be made through your Paypal account. If you don't have one, he can bill you by email and you enter your credit, debit card info or checking account info, and the amount will be paid into his Paypal account. And get this, if he can't fix it remotely, you pay NOTHING. He is not going to charge you and then tell you sorry but it needs to go to a shop, or that it's hopeless.
