of fixtures against Football League and Midland League clubs in the
period from around March 1945 to May 1946.
The Air Force team were based at RAF Newton in Nottinghamshire and
included at least one player, Gerard Wodarz, who appeared for Poland
in the 1936 Olympic Games tournament. Other stars of the team include
the goalkeeper (Stankowski) and a winger named Mieczyslaw Pawlaw.
There was also a tournament involving the Polish Air Force, Polish
Army (who were based in Scotland) and Polish Navy teams in January-
February 1946, plus a Polish Armed Forces team entered the Inter
Allied Services Cup on a couple of occasions.
There were probably also a number of teams operating at a local level
in addition to the representative side - two such teams would include
RAF Newton and RAF Dunholme Lodge, both of which entered local
competitions and were described as being Polish.
Any information on the team/players or indeed the organisation of
sporting activities amongst Polish Armed Forces in WW2 would be much
