Charlotte Harbor Regatta is hosting the 2012 Disabled Sailing World Championships during January, 2012: http://ifdsworlds2012.com/about.html

The event required floating docks for disabled access to the 2.4 Meter, Skud & Sonar classes. The cost of purchase was prohibitive and the marine manufacturers association denied the request to use their boat show resources. The alternative was fund raising and building the docks using volunteer labor. The project costs over $62K. 350 feet of floating docks, measuring 8' x 16' will be built. Short clips of this building process may be viewed on You Tube by searching "wingsailorflorida" - an early clip may be viewed at the following:

will host a preliminary OPEN 2.4 Meter event in December 2011. Several of the floating docks will be tested for proof of concept at this event.

2.4 Meter sailors participating in the CHYC and IFDS events will be well prepared for the Miami OCR in early 2012.
