Hello poppets! We're really getting down to the wire here - just 5 days from the July 1 deadline for entries into competition. I've noticed that there are very few dioramas. Dioramas are great, I first entered a diorama in 2005. I had been a competition fan since my first convention in '93, but decided to give dioramas a try. The theme was Hollywood, and the hubster and I were sitting in McDonald's, sipping on diet Cokes when the idea hit us - Jaws. One of our all-time favorite movies. It would be great to redo the poster for the movie.

And we did. It was great. In fact, it was so great that CNN put a picture of it on their website, and it was there for years. The joy that I got from seeing that diorama was immeasurable.

So, let's go through those categories again:

      1. Trick or Treat - what does it look like when Barbie and the gang go out for Halloween? What are their costumes like? Does everybody dress up?

      2. Together for the Holidays - any holiday that gathers a family is up for grabs. Is Barbie's family comfy and cozy or are they throwing metaphysical daggers at each other? Is everybody together singing carols, or is Ken secretly spiking the Memorial Day burgers?

      3. Happy New Year! - it's nearly midnight, what are Barbie and the gang doing to celebrate?  A big bash? An intimate evening with Ken and some bubbly?

      4. Barbie at the Grand Ole Opry - or Ken. The spotlight is shining and our dolls are taking center stage. Is Barbie center stage, or is she playing back-up for somebody else?

So, grab your partner, grab a diet Coke (or Pepsi) and brain-storm those ideas and get those entry forms in. I can't wait to see what ideas you have swimming in your heads.

Questions? Concerns? Send me an e-mail :edheiss@...

Oh, and here's the link for the entry form, so you don't have to go rummage around for it:http://barbieconvention.com/pdfs/competitionentryform.pdf

Not sure what category you want to enter? Here's the link for all of them, so you can read them at your leisure (over that diet beverage):2014 National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention
