Some of you have noticed that our Tier2 APRS server has been down a lot these last couple of weeks. We would reboot the machine and in a matter of hours it would die again.
I went by Jackson State and picked up the pc to figure out what was going on. I backed up the data, and proceeded to format and install linux this time around as it had been running windows xp. Well, during the install the pc died, and it appeared to be a motherboard problem.
Jackson State was gracious enough to donate a NEW (new to us) pc for our APRS server. I picked up the new server, installed linux, installed the aprs server software, and re-installed the pc back at JSCC.
So far so good. It has been up nearly 24 hours without any hiccups. Once the IP address is changed in the aprs2.net servers, it will again point back to our server (it has been forwarded to a server in MO for the time being).
Not only does this server act as a regional Tier2 aprs server, it also has a radio/tnc attached, so it is a fully functional 2-way I-gate.

I want to thank everyone for their patience while we got this up and running.
Also, I want to thank Bill Condray KI4HYF. He has helped me with the reinstall and upkeep of the new pc.
