June - 20 & 21 - Friday - Saturday - 2008 BioBlitz - From 3:00pm Friday through 3:00pm on Saturday, this 24-hour biological survey will take place on the 166 acre Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary surrounding the EE Center, and will be an event not to be missed. A BioBlitz is designed as part contest, part festival, part educational event and part scientific endeavor that will bring together scientists and the public in a race against time to count the species of plants and animals that live at Kettle Creek. Why should we count the species? This project will give us an overview of what lives at Kettle Creek. At 3:00pm on Saturday, the counting will stop and a grand total of species will be determined. The BioBlitz is sponsored by the Kettle Creek Environmental Fund and will be conducted by Monroe County Environmental Education Center Staff, with the help of scientists from East Stroudsburg University and the surrounding areas. Please stop by and take part in this exciting event. For more information and an updated schedule check our website or call (570) 629-3061. All activities at the BioBlitz are free.
