We had great weather for this 3 day event in West Texas. We walked
Guadalupe back in 1997 when it was rainy and cold, but this year it
was very nice.
I took over 300 hundred pictures so I had a tough time deciding which
pictures to put on the webpages. Mostly I used the people pictures
and trail pictures. I left off most of the scenic pictures because
the camera just doesn't do the view justice. Besides you really need
to climb up there and see the view for yourself the next time they
have an event there.
Those of us that made it up the tallest peak in Texas and signed our
names in the registration book kept up there were particularly
thrilled. It was amazing hiking to the "Top of Texas" on Sunday.
If you have never done a West Texas Event with the West Texas Trail
Walkers you are missing some great hiking! These events are not for
the timid though. The walk on Saturday coming down Bear Canyon was
indescribable. You just had to be there to appreciate it. I never
plan on walking Bear Canyon again, but I'm proud to say I did it!
The pictures for Guadalupe as well as our Tourist side trip to
Calsbad Caverns in NM are finally online at:
Hope you enjoy them.
