So, it used to work but after installing ruby it does not? I'd say
you've stuffed the system provided version of ruby which causes MacVim
to fail loading since it depends on it being in the correct place.

Do you still have that file?
Also, please open Console.app, then start MacVim and see if any errors
are printed on Console. If so, let me know what it says (probably
something about the ruby dylib missing...).
