x0x OLD TURKISH HOUSES IN INTERNET
NEW YORK, March 6 (A.A) - The models of old Turkish houses made by
Sule Ulgen, a model-maker, were displayed in internet for the first time.
The model houses including the house of great Turkish compositor
Hammamizade Ismail Dede Efendi in Cankurtaran district of Istanbul, the
waterside residence of Amcazade Huseyin Pasha in AnadoluhisarI, Istanbul
and ''Istanbullu Ahmet House'' in Safranbolu, protected by United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are all shown
in the internet page: ''http://members.xoom.com/zkuyu/index.html''
Ulgen had earlier opened exhibitions in Ankara, Istanbul, Belgium,
Paris, Anvers, and Jordan. Her model houses have been attractive for many
people both in Turkey and abroad.
Sule Ulgen said that she tries to make the architecture of the old
Turkish houses live and noted that she wants to show her models in the
The old Turkish houses started to spread in the territories of the
Ottoman Empire starting from 15th century. These houses were traditional
ones which were suitable for three generations to live together.
