"The McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage is hosting a rare concert
performance of Ken Nordine's Word Jazz on Friday, December 7th at 8pm.
Ken Nordine has made his way through this world with his voice. And he has
made a fascinating life with something he invented called "Word Jazz."
Originally the title of his seminal 1957 album, the term now designates a
genre. And if you know the right people, dropping that term elicits a

Chronicle's List of Quintessential Cool, Ken Nordine is renowned as one of
the most distinctive and all-time great American voices. And at 81 years of
age, Ken is at the height of his sublime powers. His latest CD, "A
Transparent Mask," was recently released by Asphodel Records.
Accompanying Ken in concert will be The Essence of Cool featuring Chicago
jazz greats Paul Wertico, Jim Gailloreto, Ken Haebich and Kristan Vaughan.
