magical attribution, yes. an association/correspondence set.
the Tarot order is the order of the Trumps, since by and
large this is what is being used for the correspondences.
it is ENTIRELY ARBITRARY as a game and nothing more.
> (which is connected to Hebrew via the Sefer Yetzirah).
by several versions in more than one association, yes. this
is not so simple as to yield a single matching. what seems
to remain consistent is the ZODIAC, and the Planets/Elements
change in association through time with various people and
documents, including more than one version of Sefer Yetzirah
(see Dummett, or i'll reproduce them here if desired).
> If we take the Tarot de Marseille (TdM) order as a constant,
it seems a stable enough launch point. de Gebelin sought to
occultify it in his "Monde primitif" as did the Comte de Melet,
though their sequences and orientations (particularly the
Hanged Man) weren't always consistent with the game upon which
they fantasized the Book of Thoth.
> we begin in the same place the Golden Dawn began.
this appears false on its face. the Golden Dawn developed in the
wake of the Cypher Manuscript, which contained the switch in its
content, and the Golden Dawn used this as their launching
platform. therefore, strictly speaking, they began with the
'corrected' Trump sequence *which they inherited*, and this
differed from the TdM because of the 'GD Switch' (i.e. they
popularized it but unless one of them wrote the Cypher Ms.,
then they merely followed on the recommendation of another
(Runyon and others suggest Kenneth Mackenzie, who was not a
member of the Golden Dawn but of the Brotherhood of Luxor).
> We then place the Hebrew letters on this order, and
> everything is great *except* that Teth lines up with
> Justice and Lamed lines up with Strength.
the Hebrew is unimportant except in its number-letter
sequence. what is relevant is what the Sefer Yetzira
associates to these letter-numbers with consistency
(zodiacal association to the letter-numbers you are
> This won't do, since Teth is also Leo the Lion, and Lamed
> is Libra the Balance, and these obviously should correspond
> to the cards having a Lion and the Balance on them.
this could, if misunderstood, give the impression that the
Hebrew was an important key to the Trumps, which in fact it
was not. the letters(22):zodiac(112)/planets(7)/elements(3)
were matched with the Trumps (22) by a variety of people,
and the author of the Cypher Ms. noticed that a blatant
mismatch (never mind the wealth of lesser mismatches
which he ignored) became apparent:
Trump VIII, Justice, was paired with Leo
the image of the Justice card featured a
woman holding a sword and scales.
Trump XI, Strength, was paired with Libra
the image of the Force/Strength card featured
a woman holding the jaws of a lion.
they realized that in order for the gaming deck to more
closely approximate in symbolism the attributions given
to the Trumps the two cards should be transposed, and
noted this transposition with fake explanations (different
ones!) about the importance of the previous arrangement
and symbols) in the document given to the Golden Dawn.
> So the GD switched those two cards in the TdM order.
the Cypher Ms. also re-arranged the TdM so that the Fool
was given the number 1 (I), whereas previously it was
provided no number in the TdM. the game of Tarocchi had
the Fool, the Juggler (I), and the World (XXI) as special
cards and the occult Tarot blasted these conventions out
of synch with the Fool (1/0), Juggler (10 with the 0
crossed out, matched with Beth(2)), and Universe (XXI,
with all cards after the Juggler not re-numbered in
Romans until 3 pagees later, matched with Tav(400),
the 22nd letter). on page 35 of the Cypher Ms. the
same old series is given, but the Sefer Yezirah values
and zodiacal values are transposed, leaving the Roman
values as TdM but in need of transposition to correct
the values assigned to them, providing the Fool a 0.
note that this is PRECISELY WHAT CROWLEY DOES IN HIS
TABLES OF CORRESPONDENCES (corrupts the Roman Numerals
and corrects the rest for the reader, leaving only
the 'fix' to be applied by those with eyes to see
as he arranges them by Roman Numeral order.
> In effect, they were hijacking the Tarot order, and
> making it conform to the Hebrew alef-bet.
there was no conformance until later when people like
Case began installing Hebrew letters into the gaming
deck's imagery so as to reflect the artificial mesh.
there was an arrangement of the Trumps (approximated
in 2 different Ms. locations (p. 32, p. 35)).
the Cypher Ms. even proposes an "explanation" for the
original order of the Trumps, which is a lame attempt
to give the gaming deck an occult origin:
"VIII JUSTICE = [Lamed] (3) and [Libra]
AND IX STRENGTH = [Teth] (9) and [Leo] WHICH"
"CAUSETH A TRANSPOSIT(ION)
FOR THESE ARE COGNATE SYMBOLS
BUT AT ONE TIME THE SWORD OF
JUSTICE WAS THE EGYPTIA(N)
KNIFE SYMBOL OF THE SICK(L)(E)
OF LEO WHILE THE SCALES
MEANT THE HAVING
QUITTED THE BALANCE POINT
OF HIGHEST DECLINATION
SO THE FEMALE AND THE LION
GAVE THE IDEA OF [Venus] VENUS
LADY OF [Libra] REPRESSING THE
FIRE OF VULCAN ([Saturn] in [Libra])
EXALTED - BUT EARLIEST WAS
THE LION GODDESS TO [Leo] AND MA(T)
T(O) [Libra] WITH HER SCALES - AND THIS
IS BETTER - ALSO [Libra] WAS GIVEN
TO HOR(U)S AT ONE TIME"*

this is nonsense. there never was any 'legitimacy'
to the gaming decks, including the TdM. occultists
pretended that they were esoteric and full of
wisdom, but in fact they weren't, and the reason
the GD Switch was conceived was because of the
obvious matching symbolism between game cardd
and zodiac after occult associations were matched.

there is nothing so clearly done by Crowley, who
places multiple series of symbolism/card/number
sets in different places, mimicking the Cypher
Manuscript in his Tables of Correspondence so as
to provide the reader with a hint as to the
intended construction regardless of what may
have come from the printer on the cards or be
explained in the Little White Book. the card
symbolism is the ARBITRARY aspect of the Trump
set, whereas the zodiac and the Hebrew are not
at all arbitrary, and this allows them to be
the keys, NOT the reverse. Crowley's ciphering
of the Tables of Correspondence in precisely
the same manner as was given in the Cypher Ms.
is the obvious indicator of what ought be done.
<a great number of mistaken assertions omitted>
> ...I believe is... advocating that the

no, the opposite, and Crowley knew it, and had
everything screw-puzzle-wise in the Tables of
Correspondence which was aligned to the Roman
Numerals just like the Cypher Manuscript.
the intent is obvious. those who had the ms
available to them would be able to tell this.
> ...The Emperor needs to be paired with the
> Empress, and the Star/Moon/Sun sequence

this is correct, by both GD Switch and AC,
to my read, regardless of AC's BoL blind.
> The Tarot de Marseille order is the correct
> one, and really shouldn't be messed with.
nonsense. the Fool then would have no number.
the Hanged Man would then be IIX (nonsense).
next you'll be telling us that the reason for
the GD Switch ws because you were named Leo.
> If you want to graft Hebrew onto it, fine,
> but you make it all a mess when you change
> the order of the cards themselves,
this is wrong. the cards are a game and
absolutely arbitrary. the game was being
turned INTO an esoteric tool, and the
imperative sequences are the ones relating
to the real world (zodiac) and the social
> which are a specific sequence with
> specific reasons behind it, as occult
> as those reasons might be. ...
this is a lie, an error, a falsity. before
de Gebelin there was never even the concept
of such an esotericism associated with the
Tarot (the 22 resonance drawing attention).
one might as well explain that the reason
there are 22 non-utility/non-railroad
properties in Monopoly is because it has
some kind of important occult reason
behind it that should not be futzed with.
this is nonsense and completely unsupported,
as is the balance of your expression.
