"Do you think it is fair to use inner order communications in personal
works for publication?"
Well I got to read the book today. Have to admit that yes, I do think
the emails should have been printed as they underline the criticism Mr
Greenfield is trying to make. I don't think I would have shown the
emails in such away, but the emails do display a point. Some careful
editing, paraphrasing and reporting is needed. (IMO)
"I have discussed the weight of oaths given with various members and
ex members of the O.T.O. and all I have spoken with agreed that when
one gives ones word its a matter of honor in keeping it, not dependent
upon the action of another."
Having never taken an OTO oath I couldn't say.
"Surely, I would think, his book does not hinge its merits on the
weight of these "small quotes"...
If he is not publishing for financial gains, as is mentioned in the
post, (that I was made aware of around noon today) he could make use
of the offers of assistance to release a pdf publicly. (and not just
to a "select" few that he has mentioned but a full public release)"
Well having read the book, they do illustrate the impasse that was
reached. The rest of the book illustrates the different ways one can
make totals from a statistic.
Now as to the might theory, I think the analogy of the 2 brothers
disputing over 1 orange does tend to illuminate the point of a
"victor" having some clearer manifestation of divine will, though it
could also be perceived as the "looser" having a Will to learn from
the ordeal of loss.
+smile+ Aye, I think G. W. Bush has used the same analogy.
"All said and done, I feel Mr Greenfield is a big boy and if he is
willing to stick by his guns he can get a publisher/distributor to
assist him in his endeavors, so its all a test of wills at this point."
I doubt very much that a POD company is going to stand up for any author.
"Several have pointed out that it is unlikely that the Copyright
claims, in this matter, would hold water in a court of law.
Personally, how many here would like to see their private
communications end up in someones published works where they were the
subject of contempt?"
Well if you don't want it repeated, don't say it to begin with.
Now I neither condemn nor condone this "ordeal" that both parties are
participating within, but I do feel need to reply with the 2 sides to
one coin theory..

observations from within are rather clouded in comparison to
observations from without. Having being out of the Order for
just over 6 years, I have had much time to reflect.
When you are inside something, it is often harder to make
observations about the thing, than if you are outside. When
outside you can see more of the whole, rather than the
small. To see the macrocosm, and not just the microcosm.
Inotherwords, what I am trying to say, is that it was easier
for me to understand the whole Order from an outside
I too have spent a season in the desert. My aren't the stars

Re: And in my opinion, when all is said and done and
understood, the "others in OTO leadership positions, are
doing a superb job. It is so easy to criticize. In fact, its
one of the easiest things to do. Those in an OTO leadership
position have got their ownt reasons, that may not be
understood by all. But I believe sincerely that the Order is
being run better and better all the time under its present
leadership. Unless you are in a leadership position, its
not always easy to judge. And no one has ever said it is run
as a Democracy. In some rsspects, its a military order for
the promalgation of Thelema.
This is my opinion.
Thank you for your opinion. I hope that my remarks were not
interpreted as in any way critical of anyone. I merely
wished to report a hopefull period of reconciliation in the
war torn ATL OTO area.
As to current OTO leadership, I have no opinion. As I
previously mentioned my current role is that of a Bystander.
