On not changing even a letter of The Book, let us not forget the
typeset version is every letter changed. Change anything you wish of
it. It is, itself, a very poor interpretation of the hand scripted
text, a neccessary abomination (maybe). The Book is not a book read
in the usual sense. To quote that foul type with a dark and shallow
heart is blasphemy.
Quoting is crutching. If one lives it, it is naturally spoken of in
ones own words.
What must never be changed, not a phrase, not a word, not a line, not
a dot, not in size nor style, is the hand written copy. It is to be
laid out according to instructions partially given in The Book. The
rest are elsewhere. This is used like the stele of revealing. It is
the Key to the true meaning of The Book. The Book should be at least
nearly memorized before this exercise. Once arranged one passes
through the pages as one might a Tatva, as described in The Flying
Scrolls. As the sensation begins and the dark letters on white
become letters of pure light on darkness, the memorized version of
The Book must be destroyed. A series of visions begin that are
essential to the proper interpretation of The Book. This is why and
where one destroys the book. This is the closest thing to ritual,
and only such practice in Thelema.
With life on line, I have fought many battles with Thelema, my
sword. This I understand. But hearing the words twisted to politics
and bigotry...this I do not understand. And this, from those who
could not stand in the least of the battles fought.
Don't make the absurd mistake of thinking that Thelema is a social or
political endeavor. It is a journey of the soul that ends in
glorious battle at the end of time.
