Modern discoveries of ancient philosophy, religion, and praxis are
critical to correcting dogmas and understanding the interpretations of
socalled magical socieities.
Intellectual interpretation is as valid a means of research as
subjective techniques such as skrying and the like. Unlike skrying, a
academic discovery can often fit into prevailing theories or make
completely new ones which are based on evidence and objective findings.
There is no question in this querents mind that so called fixed truths
or secret formulas are often based on beliefs, myths, and perceptions
at the time.
In such light, freemasons and OTO initiates might want to study the
available academic literature and truely examine without prejudice, if
present day academic understanding supports predominant
interpretations of esoteric matters.
I rather like the Hermit Card of the Thoth Deck, for it portrays the
reality of illumination and the masculine aspects of such a quest.
Yet, we cannot be so sure that the male or female polarity is even an
authentic way of looking at magic.
We do know that Crowley invented a system of initiation through the AA
and perhaps the OTO and EGC, but that being said, it might be time to
update the prevailing ideologies in light of the fact that much
academic research is currently available that wasnt available when
Crowley invented the system.
Now you guys dont be put off by my opinion concerning Crowley
inventing a form of magism. Afterall, if he were as great as all of
that, why wouldnt he?
Inquiring minds want to know.
