This is fascinating, unohe. The similarity between the riddle in the
Book of the Law and The Lord of the Rings was so obvious to me that
it was not even a question. I must have laughed without stopping for
at least 15 minutes when I found the further similaries.
Thank you for posting other links on the issue. It should surprise
no one that Tolkein could fashion his dark lord after the Crowley.
The were rough contemporaries and ran in the same circles in
England. Within the language and literature society of which
Chesterton, Lewis and Tolkein were all involved, I have no doubt
that Crowley's work came up once or twice.
The way it is looking now, Tolkein has fashioned a modern mythology
that has a very real basis in fact. It wasn't just about WWI or
WWII. No, apparently there is far more to it than that. Well, the
truth is stranger than fiction.
