I have two of these lathes, one old type, one 'new' type as i will call them .
The first one after acclimatising my self and very happy with it (always wanted a "super seven" Ha Ha)
i started making modifications from your excellent posts to this site and your own web sites (thanks Dean) I suffered from the first problem
that's been posted this week of the pinion coming loose and after feeling 'annoyed for about ten minutes i realised with no clip the shaft would withdraw easily when wanted and the carriage could be pulled back by hand quickly for cleaning as this machine didn't have a plastic guard over the rack and would jam with alloy chips , As to seriously cleaning the rack , removing the small bolt underneath lets you slide out the rack
then i use a brass wire brush /WD40 this i can do quite quickly.
I'm also following this 'lead screw ' with interest as i will start on my 'new one ' soon with ideas from all of you chaps so thanks again.
