Terri gave a fine report of our trip, I'm just adding some critters and flowers. On the way to the ramp a Crested Caracara flew by our caravan, there were Limpkins, Woodpeckers and Moorhens on the Creek. At the opening to the Lake there were Black-Necked Stilts. A formation of White Pelicans waved at us as they flew north over the Lake; good bye til next year! Dozens of Queen butterflies flew up and down the creek.
The little white round fragrant flowers with white spikes were Buttonbush flowers which are also in bloom on Shell Creek this time of the year. The tall clusters of little white flowers that looked like Queen Anne's Lace were probably Water Hemlock. The creek was lined with yellow waterlily buds that should start opening up this weekend. There were plenty of other plants along the creek that I don't know the name of, I'm bringing my Wildflower book the next time.
I have a fine picture of love bugs on Terri's hat that I'll put on the website soon.
