Rainwriters, Rain or Shine
The Rainwriters, a Surrey critique group, will launch a new book at Strawberry Hill Chapters on Saturday, February 16, from 1 to 3 PM, #100 12101 72nd Avenue Their previous three novels and a chapbook will also be available, and the authors will be in attendance to sign their books.
Co-Authors Ed Griffin and Mike Oultons recently published book, Dystopia, is the true story of how each ended in a Matsqui prison classroom and changed each other. Anna Barcos latest novel, Marias Tango tells the life-story of Maria Gonzales, a life that parallels the romantic, sad, sexy story of the tango itself. Larry Breitkreutzs novel Journey to Light chronicles the genesis and spread of evil in the world and the hero who restores the light. Their short story collection, Rain or Shine, includes all group members, with tales about a chance encounter with fool hens, a ghost who haunts a BC coastal ship, among others.
The Rainwriters are dedicated to writing. Their meetings begin on time and end on time. Were friends, contact person Ed Griffin says, but for us writing is serious business. We read everyones submissions before the meeting, not during it. We spend our bi-monthly meetings in analyzing each others work and offering constructive criticisms.
Call Ed Griffin or visit our website, www.rainwriters.com for more information.
