Thank you for sharing with me yours souvenirs.
I translated the Gelvin Stevenson's article. I hope somebody will read it and understand
the value of the string figures.
I wrote to the TV, here in Israel about your method. They said they will examine all i wrote
and the links. I hope that a program on yours systems, perhaps will move the people.
I wrote to you from my another adress but perhaps didn't you get my last letter:
I saw your book on Amazon.
I'm wonder if this is the "a highly condensed version" of your method,
or this time you decided to put in this book the entire method, you
know you wrote in BISFA 4 that you "eliminated your introduction
and much of the supplemental material you use to attract and
maintain the interest of students".
I don't understand why do you mean with "the supplemental material".
By the way, it's wonderful we can get also your poetry book.

yes, indeed, that is the same orlando fiol.
i taught him trigonometry and of course string figures.
he was nice enough to include me in his award ceremony at the kennedy center when he was a senior. he was given an award for handicapped musician of the year or something of that sort. there was a big gala at the center in washington, d.c. he insisted that the television crew (nbc?) record my singing a leadbelly song accompanied by orlando on the piano. they came to show him at school for the broadcast of the award ceremony to be presented on national television it was very frightening for me who was only beginning to become able to perform music. i played my father's old martin and we did pretty well. i got to see the playback that afternoon.
later on orlando told me of my voice filling that great auditorium (i was out of town and didn't see the program). he said it stopped the show and received a nice ovation. that's the closest i've ever come to becoming a rock and roll star.
yes, that is the same orlando fiol, though i had not read either article.
thanks for the memory.
