Mathew, I'm very glad to read your thoughts on this and especially
so due to my own similar "feelings", but perhaps more especially
because New Orleans is my home town with, hopefully, family members
remaining safe. There has always been "something" very different about
the City, and most people seem to have sensed at least some type of
"difference" not overtly explainable or perhaps even considered
I find your remark regarding psychics "feeling" earthquakes ahead of
time interesting, and while I'm not psychic, I've learned during the
past 30 years to trust an inner need to move my glass keepsakes to
safety now and then on California's San Andreas fault.
Rudolf Steiner mentions somewhere how someone [was it Eurypaedes?]
wished so badly to become one with the elemental world that he threw
himself into Mt. Etna during one of its eruption.
Many people seem to dismiss such feelings as you describe so well
while attributing them to atmospheric pressure, impending life changes,
etc., and these factors cannot be ruled out. However, I am glad to see
your words below in their wisdom. Thanks.

Perhaps not Allah but Ahriman. Even while the hurricane spun
harmlessly over open water, I felt an unusually oppressive feeling in
the air, a sort of evil presence that could not be explained in a
rational manner. Others felt it to. I heard people at school and on
the radio say they felt "down." Then, when the hurricane ran ashore
and I saw the devastation, I knew powerful spiritual forces were at
work in shaping Katrina.
Psychics say they "feel" earthquakes before they happen, and I imagine
they're right. Cataclysmic events---floods, hurricanes, tornadoes,
earthquakes---have their roots in the realm of spirit.
