Hi Joe ---
By design perhaps the bnc is isolated from the case to reduce ground loops
and pickup on 60Hz buzz which can give a nasty noise spike on the spectrum.
Consider maybe a BNC to UHF adapter keeping the BNC as it is.

Subject: [softrock40] SO-239 for Ensemble RxTx
HI to the group
After a hiatus I am back at the sdr once again.
I was thinking of replacing the bnc connector on the Ensemble with an SO-239
bolted to the KM5H box and attaching the terminals to the board. Is there
anything I should know about doing this? In the original design the bnc
connector is not physically attached to the metal box. There does not seem
to be any continuity between the bnc connecter and the box now but there
could be if I mount the so-239.
Has anybody tried this or another solution perhaps? The problem I have with
the bnc connector is that the torque required to insert and remove the
connector wears on the connection inside. Connecting a pl259 directly could
relieve some of the tension.
I am actually not too sure whether there is enough room to fit an so-239 but
I thought I would try.
