I had been waiting on Hermes for a long time but because of delays I went for the HiQSDR instead.
Both Hermes and HiQSDR have similar architecture --
Hermes 8-layer PCB against 4-layer for HiQSDR
Hermes slightly higher ADC, DAC and FPGA.
HiQSDR was the first to support VNA functions and Hermes has just caught up.
These DDC/DUC SDR rigs are the price they are due to the high cost of the PCB's, ADC's, DAC's and FPGA but they are top of breed SDR eliminating many of the problems and drawbacks especially having to deal with those pesky sound cards used in QSD/QSE rigs.
It's still on my list for a future purchase from Apache Labs.

I purchased one from TAPR and it arrived this week.
Work load suggests I really wont get to enjoy it any time soon.
