Our Lady of the Angels
Dear Sisters and Brothers, May ~ June,
and shining hope of this Easter and Pentecost season challenges all Christians
and followers of Francis and Clare to share the Gospel message — to make known
to people, cultures and nations God’s outpouring of mercy, presence and
forgiveness. Through Baptism, God invites us to share the gift of our lives in
service to others. To do so we must be aware of our daily encounters with the
gifts of God’s infinite love and our humble service to Him and our brothers and
sisters in the spirit of Francis. May we
be strengthened against evil that we may rejoice in God’s peace and trust in
His eternal promise. Those who welcome and cherish the Word as guest of their
hearts will have abiding joy. “Thank God for all the blessings he has bestowed
on you so that you may be worthy to receive greater ones.” St Louis 1X
“May you attain full
knowledge of God’s will through perfect wisdom and spiritual insight. Then you will lead a life
worthy of the Lord and pleasing to Him in every way. You will multiply good
works of every sort and grow in knowledge of God. By the might of His glory you
will be endowed with the strength needed to stand fast, even to endure joyfully
whatever may come.”
Col. 1, 9b-11
Office of the Passion speaks to us: “Holy Virgin Mary, there is no one like you
among women. Daughter and handmaid of the Most High Supreme King and Father in
heaven, mother of our Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, spouse of the Holy Spirit
pray for us.”
Friar Louis Geelan, O.F.M.
Questions for personal reflection and group
What have I honestly done for Christ during my Franciscan life’s
journey? Can our Christian heritage be expressed in a variety of ways?
How is the Holy Spirit inspiring me to serve the risen Christ now in
this period of my life?
There are two things to do
about the Gospel — believe it and behave it.
