Title: Japan's Golden Age Momoyama
Published by: Yale University Press in Association with the Dallas Museum of Art
Cost me: $45, worth every penny. This is by far my leading resource tool for the Momoyama period.
Size: Big! This baby comes in its own cardboard sleeve. There are 320 pages packed full of art, articles, and facts enough to make anyone in the SCA drool.
This book is my personal treasure and leading resource for the Momoyama. While it certainly is not a cheap book, it is a detailed and large enough resource that it is well worth purchasing. The topics covered are all period, include photos and a wealth of historical citations and names. Topics included by not limited to: armor, kosode, tea ceremony utensils and pottery, lacquer & metalworking, painting, and more.
This book really brings Japan's "Golden Age" to light. I can't stress enough what a great resource this book is. This book cemented my belief in the Momoyama period truly being "Japan's Golden Era".
