Georgia TimesSaakashvili keeps place of meeting with Gorbachuov, Rice and perrry secret
In the course of the international symposium Georgia will be visited by ex - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; ex-President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachyov; ex - U.S. Secretary of Defense William J. Perry - Novosti-Gruzia.
They will arrive on September 6th. The Foreign Ministry of Georgia and the U.S. embassy to Georgia so far have no information on the planned symposium.
Nothing is said about the place of the meeting.
Then world leaders will continue symposiums in Azerbaijan, Russia, and Ukraine.
The event is devoted to global challenges in post-Soviet space.
According to World Leaders Travel, in the course of the tour ex-leaders will participate in discussions of political and cultural complications in the region, Russia's influence, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The existing conflicts will also be discussed.Peter Dow comments.OK I am just quoting what the Georgia Times website has published. You need to make allowances that English is not the Georgian headline writer's first language - hence why he/she has misspelled "Perry", and "Gorbachev" you can spell anyway you like I guess since it is a Russian name. (The Germans spell Gorbachev as "Gorbatschow").The day before Georgia Times claimed the meeting was to be on the 7th, rather than the 6th. http://www.georgiatimes.info/en/news/41573.htmlOK so what is really going to happen? What has been said already? What rings true about this report?I don't know if the two great world leaders Gorbachev and Rice will meet. I certainly hope that they do meet and just as important the media will be there to record the event and what is said for history. It looked like the two would meet when the World Leaders Symposium, "Global Challenges in a Post Perestroika World" was announced but then the small print in this official brochurehttp://www.worldleaderstravel.com/storage/trips/100830_wlr_russiablacksea/Russia-Black-Sea-Symposium.pdfsays"Condoleezza rice will join the symposium on September 3–6 aboard
the Silver Wind. William Perry will be on the symposium in its entirety.
Mikhail gorbachev will join the symposium for a day on September 1"Which strongly implied that Gorbachev would not be leaving Moscow and coming on board the "Silver Wind" cruise with Rice and the two would not meet after all, which would be a shame and a missed opportunity.Note however that Rice can arrive in Georgia by the Silver Wind and Gorbachev even if he is not on board could perhaps fly in separately for the meeting in Georgia. What rings true is if there is a meeting planned, the details of where and would not be announced far in advance for security reasons. However, at some point, if the media is to be allowed to be there to record and to report the meeting, they will have to announce where it is to be, exactly. At which point PLEASE would professional journalists and Georgian bloggers get down there to the venue and take some video and photographs for the rest of us who can't be there for this historical reunion but who would love to be there if we could.I do hope plenty of video and photographs and recordings are made at the time and later uploaded onto the internet.Plus if anyone is lucky enough to be on board the Silver Wind, please take photographs and video of Condoleezza Rice (and Gorbachev if he is there) and send them to me Peter Dow - peterdow@... for upload to the web and so that all Rice for President Yahoo Group members can see them. Thanks!OK well watch this space for more developments.- Peter Dow

To Condoleezza Rice,Dear Condi,You know how you are going on a Black Sea cruise on the Silver Wind cruise vessel departing this next Friday, 3rd September from Istanbul, Turkey, arriving Monday, 6th September Batumi, Georgia? No, not that cruise - that was September 5, 2007 in Sydney, Australia, with President Bush and Australian Prime Minister John Howard. That was then but this is now.THIS cruise - the World Leaders Symposium, "Global Challenges in a Post Perestroika World" - you know the one.Promotional video - Condoleezza Rice Mikhail Gorbachev Black Sea Cruise 2010 PromotionalYes, the one where you are not attending the initial part of the package tour for the Gala dinner with Gorbachev in Moscow and the one where Gorbachev is not coming on the later Black Sea cruise with you even though all your fans want to see you two most impressive world leaders photographed and videoed together and saying nice things about each other. After all you did both end the cold war, re-unite Germany, free Europe, bring down the iron curtain, prevent nuclear war between the two super-powers and generally save civilisation for all humanity. You are right Condi, it doesn't get any better than that. Thank you very much.Condoleezza Rice at the Malta Summit with USA. President George H. W. Bush and USSR General Secretary Mikhail S. Gorbachev in December 1989, on board the Soviet cruise ship Maxim Gorky, Marsaxlokk Harbour, Maltaso it would be a nice footnote in history to see you two re-united again after all this time. Maybe some other time then?Well I was thinking there is still just time for the two of us to strike up a relationship, have a whirl-wind romance, get married and we could have our honeymoon on the cruise next long weekend, providing of course that you buy my ticket, at those prices! No? Oh well, that won't be the first time you have declined my marriage proposal by default by ignoring me completely. Some other time for that one as well then?Hey my "Will Condoleezza Rice marry Peter Dow? Dream on!" videohas had 1,595 views now. Haven't you heard how keen I am on wooing my dearest Condi by now?Anyway, have a nice cruise on the Black Sea this coming long weekend and I sincerely hope that you go with or meet a suitable travelling companion who gives you all the love and kisses which you do deserve.Lots of love,Peter DowPS Any more thoughts on that whole "running for president" thing?Rice for President Yahoo Group"Condoleezza Rice for President in 2012. Could anyone give me 24,000 dollars please because the San Francisco Citizens says world leaders can go on a world leaders' cruise with Condi and Gorby, around the Black Sea in a luxury cruise ship this August/September? No? Thought not.
Actually, WORLD LEADERS Travel don't claim that Condi and Gorby will actually be on aboard the Silver Wind for the cruise part of the event and my impression from the schedule is that Condoleezza Rice and Michael Gorbachev will be only be participating in the Moscow events from August 30th.Oh well Condi and I will have to make other honeymoon plans.- Peter Dow, Group Owner,Rice for President Yahoo Group
