Subject: Re: [Rev. List]: "Write this down
In Rev 21:5, the One who was seated on the throne says to John: "Write this down. Does anyone know what John have to write? Are Gods words referred to the hole book of Revelation, or only vv.1-4, or even to the next words these words are trustworthy and true? What does the authors say?

Ms ciudades: http://conexion.yahoo.com.arWriting is closely connected to prophesying in Revelation, since writing seems to be the assumed means of prophesying. The NRSV in using the word "for" implies that the phrase "these words are trustworthy and true" serves as a warrant for writing. However, the Greek is not gar, but hoti. Thus, the phrase could well be the object of the writing: "Write: 'These words are trustworthy and true.'"Aune takes the phrase and the command as refering to the entire book. The phrase trustworthy and true reappears in 22:6 (cf. also 19:9), which could imply that the larger work is in mind here.Loren JohnsAssociated Mennonite Biblical Seminary
