Well, then answer the obvious question... why do you need to compile
Perl with DEBUGGING enabled (which isn't even precisely an option)?
If you're new, you're not likely to be debugging the C code of Perl,
Check out the resources at beginners.perl.org if you're just getting
started with Perl.
