It is probably worthwhile moving to a newer version of perl.
Version 5.6 is a stable released version.
You may encounter issues that others on more recent versions do not,
especially related to modules.
I was using v5.001 and had problems with 'eval'. When I upgraded to
5.6 all was fixed.
