This is a little disconcerting:
FOXBORO -- Of all the players the Patriots can't afford to lose due to
injury, kicker Adam Vinatieri is near the top of the list. In the
second half of yesterday's 21-7 victory over the 49ers, the team was
close to facing that possibility.
The eight-year veteran was experiencing blurred vision, which led to
him being examined by trainer Jim Whalen and one specialist in the
team's group of doctors on the sideline. After the game, Vinatieri
said he was having trouble seeing straight and doctors felt he might
be at the beginning stages of a migraine headache.
But the problem subsided enough for him to kick the extra point on
Corey Dillon's 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Vinatieri also
booted the ensuing kickoff.
