Dear Fathers, We who are recent converts (such as I) have had few opportunities to join the Old Calendar diocese, HOCNA was over an hour drive(and problems with their hierarchy were noted) and an OC observing Ukie Orthodox about the same, so in Baltimore is the MP and ROCOR, I came in via ROCOR. Now, is our jurisdiction valid or not, for I am getting confusing input. On an 'either/or" mentality, only one can claim the Apostolic succession for themselves....! One of my reasons for becoming Orthodox was the more "seamless" theology, if you have never been a Prot or studied their theologies, it is a maize of contradictory and perfunctory hypothesis, arguement and opinion. But, I have noted more and more the vehement nature of many Old Calendar and Traditionalist groups, which is disconcerting and dissappointing, for I thought the better of Orthodoxy as a whole. (I will not even go into the grandstanding of the NC OCA people, some of which 'claim' to be Russian but
celebrate with the Latins their Christmas and reject the Nativity of their own ancestors.......they might as well just p---on their graves, than claim the heritage..just for a show.....in my opinion, of course.
I wanted the stability of the ancient Tradition/s, not the varying and oft times heretical nature of the modern Prots (esp in america..!) By the way, why does everything have to conform to american standards, when it comes to this country (us of a), even Orthodoxy, from shaved Priests, to the women revealing way too much bare skin in the Church...???? I have a book on the Carpatho-Rusyn's diocese, and this was photos in the 30's - 40's and not one Priest is NOT shaved....should I consider this shameful.....just as a woman who comes into Church uncovered???
Just some ramblings of mine, please send private emails of admonition, if possible, thank you, sincerely, m r wurzbacher
