>Ed, that was fairly brave of you to install a new OS over a running
snipped of the rest to save bw.
I bought a Sam's Book with CD in back. The author said the disk had
Partition Magic on it and it would Partition the Disk and install the Linux
program Caldera Business Linux safely into the Partition without causing any
problems. The disk also had Boot Magic which was supposed to take care of
the booting without causing any problems. So it was not bravery, it was
near stupidity. The root cause of the problem was I believe a Mouse that
was a wheel mouse and used a USB port. I had to stop the install shut down
the computer and put the old mouse in the back of the computer. That was
where things became fouled up. The Book warned but I failed to read it
carefully that USB ports would not be recognized . And a careful reading
shows that Linux does not support USB ports. That is what caused my
downfall no doubt, so it was ignorance, not bravery, maybe even stupidity
you could say. I tend to put things together, and if they don't then read
the instruction book. This may work with bicycles but it will not work with
computers -- another lesson learned.
