OK, so big news from Gencon. Margaret Weis Productions has announced that they got the coveted Marvel license for a Marvel Superheroes RPG slated for February 2012. The license is 16 books long ( impressive for a licensed property in the RPG field these days) and will be event based. What does that mean you ask?
After the core book is released, Margaret Weis Productions will follow it up with books based on the major events. Each one will include rules to allow the game books to be self sufficient. The first will be Civil War, followed by Age of Apocalypse, and then...oh yes... Annihilation.
Mechanically, for those familiar with it, the Marvel RPG will be Cortex Plus like Smallville, Leverage, and Dragon Brigade before it, but like all three games, Cortex Plus adapts to suit the subject matter.
On a more personal note, I was lucky to work on Smallville and saw how innovative this team can be, so I only expect great things from this company and this iteration of the role playing game. As for the Annihilation book (and Cam alluded to there being more for Annihilation Conquest, War of Kings, etc), I told Cam Banks, head honcho of Margaret Weis Productions I would give my arm to work on it. He pretty much told me he expected me to work on it and wanted to make sure I would be able to write a lot for it. Considering I wrote close to a hundred pages of Smallville RPG, i think our buckethead is in good hands.
