in trying to make it very easy I managed to hurt my system to the
point where I don't know what would be the next step...
In short: I was trying to have a DOS window pop up with the output of
any Perl script I would write in NoteTab. And this by going in View,
Options and setting the following:
Associations: Add .pl and .cgi
Tools: type "C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe" at Custom Launch
I was having trouble with the DOS window not staying open but for a
split second so I had to code sleep 20; at the end of each script in
order to be able to look at that window with the output for 20
I asked around and I found out there's a perl.pif file that is
supposed to take care of that DOS window, so after adding this file
to c:\Perl\bin, I changed the line in Tools as follows:
Tools: type "C:\Perl\bin\perl.pif"^** (also at Custom Launch)
and it really worked for a machine that had win98 on it.
I did the same thing on a WINNT 4.0 server and I cannot run any perl
script either from notetab or from the dos window itself. All the
the dos prompt goes bonkers, and always wants to print something at
the printer!?! What is worse is that even if I try to run my script
directly from the DOS prompt I get the same erratic behavior.
Anybody any idea?
