Every time I get a burst of activity in the yard/ravine, I think
finally the birds have returned full time. Then they disappear again.
Though this is very typical for this time of year, it's not as much fun
for the humans.
Some of the winter birds coming to the feeders and birdbaths lately are:
Yellow-throated warbler (first time I've had one here in winter)
Orange-crowned warbler (had two bathing last weekend)
Hermit Thrush - 2 looking at birdbath
Chipping Sparrows - 6 this morning (their numbers will build up)
Baltimore Oriole-- 1 beautiful male eating suet yesterday
Yellow-rumped warbler-- a single bird arrived this week
The paint-marked Rubythroat is still here.
By the way, check out the new Wild Birds Unlimited store on
Governor's Square Blvd. The Grand Opening is this weekend,
Fri-Sun. Open 10-6 today, 1-6 on Sun. It's a neat place.
