I found your name on the Origami USA website (we are members) so I am emailing you, hoping this will be of interest.
I am the Director of Paper Circle in Ohio (a non-profit paper and book arts center). Two years ago we were encouraged the Columbus Origami group, Capital Area Paper Shapers, to come up with paper for wet folding and super complex designs. They said artists needed it and could only get paper like it (origamido) at conventions. So we made O-Gami in hopes that we would serve artists while creating a product that will help sustain us. Robert Lang also graciously helped us to get going, lucky for us.
O-Gami is handmade from abaca, and or flax or hemp and it is really super strong and crisp and, it has been said that our paper is equal to Origamido by users.
In any event we have also worked hard to be able to replicate color, so we can offer samples. The sheets are 22x 28 inches and come in three thicknesses (super-thin being 23gsm up to 200 gsm per 22x28 inch sheet). We have worked out all the kinks and are very proud and happy to finally be able to offer this paper online. This paper is not just for super complex designs, though. It is beautiful paper and strong and would work equally well for geometrics and tessellation using the thicker weight.
I hope you will visit the store that we just launched, and share our presence with anyone you think might need paper like ours.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any special requests, comments or concerns.
