Got home very late last night from research trip to Harvard's archives of the Radio Research Lab.
Dan L. (from NJHDA) and I found all sorts of mentions to Camp Evans in the archives. The most interesting item is that our base participated in the federal goverment's Vacuum Tube Development Committee in the mid-1940s (details to come).
I'm still learning what this committee was all about. I think its purpose was to share knowledge among member groups and advocate R&D. I'm not clear if the group had any funding authority.
We already know Camp Evans had a supporting role in Bell Labs' transistor development, so it is good to hear about this slightly earlier vacuum tube role.
