The Earth has exited the most recent high speed solar wind stream, and
the solar wind speed has returned to normal. However, there may be
some more activity on the horizon. First, a new, big sunspot region
has rotated into view. Sunspot region 570 is emerging over the
eastern limb of the solar disk. We'll get a better idea of its size
as it comes into full view. It has already started off with a bang,
generating an M-class flare early in the 6th. Also, a new coronal
hole has come into view, and will be in an Earth-pointing position in
a couple of days. We should see the high speed solar wind gusts from
it starting on or about the 10th.

The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled through 7
and 8 March. The onset of an intense solar sector boundary crossing is
anticipated on 9 March, which precedes a recurrent high speed coronal
hole stream. Active to minor storm conditions are expected with the onset.
